1.
Quick write
(11:45-12:10):
A. If you were only allowed to
keep one song on your IPod, which song would it be? Why is it significant? How does it make you feel? If you were only allowed to keep one GENRE of
music on your IPod, which genre would it be?
Why?
B. Write a short song about an
important event in your life. Try to
capture the mood and feel free to embellish to make the song more intriguing or
to fit a certain pattern.
2. Verbs (12:10-12:30): Using the yellow
Magic Lens grammar workbook, you will take Cornell Notes on verb mood
(page 42). You should then complete the
Verbs from The Word within the Word
activity (page 47); you cannot write in the book, so all answers must be on a
separate sheet of paper. Please remind
use the proper heading. Students who
submit papers without a name will receive a zero. You do not need to submit the work; I will
collect and we will talk about it on Friday.
3. Ballads (1:05-1:15): You will take Cornell Notes on Ballads (Under
Literary Focus on page 721 in the textbook).
Remember to complete the summary portion at the end of your notes!
4.
“Bonny Barbara Allan” & “Ballad
of Landlord”
(1:15-1:45): You will read the two poems
and answer questions #1, 2, 6-10 (page 727).
Points will be deducted if you do not have the proper heading or if you
write using incomplete sentences. Hint for #7:
Look for a shift in the poem.
Hint for #10: Rd. the Literary
Perspective box on p. 724.
HW: You should finish whatever you did not complete
during class and study your grammar notes.
